The company holds the spare parts used for maintenance and repairs in the inventory. It is crucial to have these spare parts on hand when it is needed, else the whole manufacturing process can be stopped until necessary parts are available. However, since the cost of these spare parts can be substantial, keeping them redundant is costly for the company. In that sense, Kaizen Intelligence develops artificial intelligence algorithms to predict consumption rates of these parts as well as lead times when order of purchase has been entered. By using these predictions, we develop an optimization algorithm to make autonomous decisions about when an order will be placed and the amount of this corresponding order. Hence, the cost of keeping spare parts in the inventory is minimized while the manufacturing process is never interrupted.
